The Cooks River Sustainability Initiative is working on one subcatchment in the Rockdale local government area.

Subcatchment facts
Name: Upper Wolli Creek.
Location: This subcatchment covers parts of the suburbs Beverly Hills, Kingsgrove and Bexley North. The subcatchment is bordered by Homer St to the north and Stoney Creek Road to the south and it includes a section of the M5 motorway.
Population: 10,175.
Area: 437 hectares.
Land use: The subcatchment area has a variety of landuses which includes residential, commercial and industrial. There are also a number of park areas, schools and a railway station (Kingsgrove). This subcatchment covers three local government areas which are Canterbury, Hurstville, and Rockdale.

The initiative is collecting information about the physical and social characteristics of this area. We are also reviewing the major organisations involved in the management of water and other environmental issues. This information will be used in community forums to help develop a future vision and action plan for your local area.

If you work or live, in this area you can get involved by taking part in the community water survey (available soon) , by attending community forums and/or by being a part of the community working group (available soon) that will be formed as part of the project.
